ESABII Side event at CBD COP11

To share the achievements and future plans of ESABII activities toward the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity.

Overview

This side event consisted of five presentations and a panel discussion with the participants. Four experts gave the presentations after an introductory overview of ESABII by the Ministry of the Environment of Japan as the ESABII Secretariat.

In the panel discussion, to the question of whether the practicality and applicability of the training is monitored, Ms. Beastall of TRAFFIC explained that a questionnaire survey of all the training participants is conducted for all the training workshops and the results are utilized for organizing the subsequent training workshops.

During the event, Dr. Shimura expressed gratitude for the remarkable accomplishments of the executive director of ACB, Dr. Rodorigo Fuentes who passed away in August 2012, and all participants offered a silent prayer for the deceased.
